Revitalization of mathematics education is trying to give back the mean of teaching and the principal of knowledge. The one effort is giving a chance to teacher by using the method of teaching that appropriate with the students’ ability. The researcher gives a conclusion that there is a big hole in implementation learning theory, because of , the lack of teacher’s understanding about learning theory, education system that doesn’t support, the environment isn’t conducive, and the facilities is not complete. Actually, the teacher had a problem in using the props.
The absolutist said that mathematics implicitly have values, values that on their bodies, like a culture, so I isn’t values that on mathematics implicitly. In other words, the absolutist said that everything that available with mathematics values is accepted but if not, it is rejected. The social constructivist said that mathematics is human creation through the current period. The absolutist said that the discovery is not mathematics yet and modern mathematics is something that can’t be ignore. By the social constructivist, said that modern mathematics is not something that can’t be ignore, but the evolution of human culture.
According to The social constructivist, mathematics can’t develop without other knowledge, so we can say that mathematics is not neutral and free values. So we can divide mathematics into four parts, pure-formal mathematics, applied-formal mathematics, pure-informal mathematics, applied-informal mathematics. In other definition, Revitalization of mathematics education is the efforts to modeling the mathematics learning that considered appropriate with the latest era.
It is not easy to make real revitalization of mathematics education without awareness and gracefully in education’s world. In order that teacher can make real revitalization of mathematics education in growing the creativity of students so teacher must do,
- Plan about mathematics environment
- Plan about mathematics activity
- Develop the teacher’s role
- Managing the time in mathematics activity
- Keep an eye on students
- Evaluating themselves
- Evaluate the definition, process, skill, facts, and result
- Evaluate the result and the progress of students
